Reunited with the Indian cricket team in South Africa, Virat Kohli is expected to be fit for the first Test match, which takes place in Centurion on December 26. As per a source by News18, Kohli was in London throughout his break, and the team management was informed beforehand about his plans. According to a senior BCCI official cited in the newspaper, Kohli skipped the intra-squad practice matches because he was traveling to London before the opening Test match against South Africa.

The official also revealed that Kohli had multiple training sessions with the team before leaving for London on December 19 and he will start practice once again after joining the team in Centurion.
“Kohli left India for South Africa on December 15. Had good 3-4 training sessions before he went to London on December 19. For the next few days, he was in London and has now linked up with the Test squad and will in all likelihood train in Centurion tomorrow,” the official added.
Meanwhile, South Africa head coach Shukri Conrad is confident that India won't be able to breach the ‘Final Frontier' in their Test history even with his frontline pacers Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi hitting the nets ahead of the ‘Boxing Day' Test.
The insider also disclosed that Kohli trained with the team on several occasions prior to his departure for London on December 19, and that he will resume practicing upon rejoining the team in Centurion.
On December 15, Kohli departed India for South Africa. Good three or four training sessions before his December 19 departure for London. He was in London for the next three days, and now that he's connected with the Test team, he'll probably train in Centurion tomorrow, the official continued.
